Sonu began learning music at the age of four and in 1993 he sang his first Bollywood song “O Aasman Wale” for the film “Aaja Meri Jaan”, in the same year he released his debut album “Rafi Ki Yaadein”.

Apart from Hindi, he has sung in various languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Nepali, Kannada, Malayalam, etc., and some of his popular songs are – Bole Chudiyan, Apnaa Mujhe Tu Lagga, Mere Haath Mein, Payar Ki Ek Kahani, Suraj Hua Maddham, Aisa Deewana, Bindiya Chamke Choodi Khanke, etc.
